Personal Inn-vestments

For whatever reason, as of late, I've been Inn-vesting a lot of time in Other People's lives or awkward situations; giving, counseling, negotiating or compromising.  And less time on my Sweet Dream and my own wants and needs.

And Gosh Darn it...I'm exhausted.  But there is no martyrdom here!  Getting involved in such things is a Choice that I, and I alone, have made.  It's almost always worthwhile but it bears repeating that it can prove exhausting.  That's where one needs to look in the mirror, take a deep breath and remind yourself, from where these good intentions came.

Life has road bumps...and whether they are Ours or Someone Else's...they need to be dealt with.  That's just a part of the human experience.  Usually, those trying times are overcome and lead to greater things - such as better communication or closer friendship. Once in a while, they do not.

If your heart is in the right place...then understandably, you deserve appreciation.  If it isn't there, then maybe, just maybe...it's time to reassess.  We need to know our boundaries and when to say enough's enough - before that helping hand of ours wants to slap us in the face.

Never regret doing something good - for that is what a loving life is all about.  Know that giving of yourself, is the greatest kind of charity - and that glory won't always be found.  But that isn't the point, now is it?

If, in the end you feel hurt or resentful or abused in any way - then perhaps it's time to Choose to walk away and Inn-vest your time and energy someplace else.  There is no shame in that. Knowing all the while, you did the best you could...and you did so from the heart.

Sweet Dreams,
Me
