A couple of nights ago, I had the opportunity to do one of my favorite things in the world. That was to host a small group of friends for an intimate dinner. It's nights like these which give me the opportunity to exercise my Hosting ability - clearly a crucial skill if I intended to Own and Operate a B&B at some point.
I had a blast! From readying the house to make it picture perfect...to lighting the candle that made it smell just right...to preparing dinner for everyone. Every step was enjoyable to me. Even setting out the cupcakes I'd made the day before was entertainment to my future Bakery Owner self.
As my guests arrived, the wine flowed as did the conversation. It was all so Perfect.
Dinner went over with resounding success and dessert (my Cupcake display) turned into an impromptu Taste Test - for one of my guests was none other than my Bakery Owner friend, Mike. We bantered about whose Red Velvet recipe was better and whether my Vanilla Buttercream Frosting was too sweet. It was great to have a discriminating palette to decipher the tasty nuances between one recipe and the next. It would be important for me to get my recipes just right.
The verdict: Undecided! We'd have to put it to a real, blind taste test down the line with people other than ourselves.
Needless to say, it was a wonderful night that only cemented my belief that I'd be really good at this! A great weekend topped off by a phone call back I just received from PAI - The Professional Association of Innkeepers! I'd call them back ASAP - as I suspect they'll have a treasure trove of helpful information to help my Sweet Dreams come true.
Sweet Dreams,
Me
