There are dozens of things I hope to accomplish in this life. But unfortunately (and fortunately) instant gratification isn't on the table most of the time.
Rather than bellyaching over that simple fact...I've chosen to, instead, savor the moments along the way. All of them - even the slightly tart. They actually make the Sweet ones taste that much more amazing.
In doing so, I'm also taking advantage of the options before me. Planning ahead, creating my own personal back-up plans to ensure my Sweet Dreams come true. It's an attempt to freeze time, if you will - in a world where every day life fans the flames of the future more quickly than we'd like.
Although there are no guarantees - it's what eggs me on. That desire for a full life fuels my appetite and keeps me dreaming Sweet Dreams.
For all the things we cannot have instantly - if we build toward them in even the smallest ways - we are making Progress. It may not get us to where we want in short order - but some would argue the slow-cook method produces a more delicious result.
Taking the time to think things through (despite the innate desire to have something NOW) gives us time to let the flavors really sink in. Sometimes that respite is just what we need - to look at the Big Picture with a more discerning eye.
Not always, but sometimes, that freeze-frame in time changes everything. Maybe things turn out differently than first planned...but exactly the way they were meant to be.
Sweet Dreams,
Me
"The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance - and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning." - Oprah Winfrey
