Noble Fir Good Reason

Although I'd planned to wait until I returned from my vacation to choose and decorate my Christmas Tree...something came over me beforehand.

It was ahead of schedule, of course, but I felt the need to get my Noble Fir up in her stand before I took a seat on the plane.  I didn't like the idea of coming back to an Un-Christmas'd house nor the thought of a mere two weeks worth of enjoying my Tannenbaum before taking flight yet again.

This would not suffice.

So, prior to the ladies' traditional Wine & Cheese night, I went in search of the Evergreen that would suit me just right.  She was a hefty eight feet tall and despite some Imperfections, would fit Perfectly in the best seat in the house - the entryway.  She wasn't without flaws, but who of us is?  And that was precisely what made her beautiful.

In short order, I proceeded to deck the halls with bells of holly, etc... creating my own little Winter Wonderland in advance of the arrival my beautiful guests.

It was cozy.  It was honestly...just right.

Half the time, when I focus on the setting...it's less about the ambience than it is the interaction that will follow.  To me, setting the mood is the key that unlocks the door to people's comfort zones.  And in my house, I want all who enter to be truly at home.  The more comfortable and inviting I can make it for those I love, the more intimate our time will be.

A home is nothing if not for the people within it and the inviting feeling it provides.  I truly believe that you can have the most extravagant home there is, but without a warm and loving soul, it will always be empty at its core.

Fill your life and your home with people who feed your spirit.  Without that, you'll always go hungry.

By the end of the night, my dearest friends gathered 'round the tree and helped me hang the ornaments.  It took all of a few minutes with all hands on deck...but that memory will last me a lifetime.  It was one for the books, to be sure.  The star wouldn't sit steadily...but getting it there was my laughter for the month.

It's the little things that we never forget.  So if I can ask you to do one thing...remember to have those little things.  Make time for them, because those moments make all the difference in the world.

Sweet Dreams,
Me
